Fun Footwear

Back from a small hiatus! Was away for a week vacation in Florida, welcomed Spring (finally!) and whole lot in between but happy to be back in the saddle.

Shoes have always been a thing of mine. When touring people through our home and we reach the basement where my “second closet” is set up – I get a lot of comments. What can I say? I love shoes – they always fit, can make an outfit and are just generally very important to me. Sneakers are surely having a moment right now  and are definitely a style of shoe I’ve been wearing a lot more these days. The best part about sneakers is that they are becoming so interesting and beyond your basic shoe – what else could you ask for? Having recently purchased some glitter kicks (pictured above!)- I rounded up a couple other sneak trends that I have my eye on.

White out

In keeping with today’s Toronto weather which is basically just snow everywhere – I figured I would round up some great white sneaks that are just perfect for your spring outfits. They are so perfect to pair with everything from floral skirts to torn up boyfriend jeans. Stay warm out there!  White Out 1. Michael Kors – Putting that sporty-chic in your step with these woven leather kicks.

2. ACNE – Known for their chic simplicity their white sneaker hits the mark.

3. Addidas Stan Smith – Classics! They remind me of my old school shell toes I had as a kid.

4. Vans – Another old school classic with an updated edge with the perforated leather.

5. Joe Fresh  – How can you really beat this price?

6. Converse – An upgrade on your standard high-top converse, the leather brings them next level.

Enjoy the snow!

Refining Sport

One of the most prominent trends that we saw for Spring 2014 was the sporty trend and I for one am digging it. Since I’m already a huge fan of white on white on white, the tennis look just seems natural to me. I love that you can dive right it and wear the look head to toe or infuse a more formal outfit with a little sport.
1. J.Crew “Tennis” Dress – They have this in their “Wear to work” dress section but I mean come on, it clearly looks like you’ve chicly walked off the court for some cocktails. The pleats are perfect and I haven’t tried it on but I get the sense that it has great structure. I absolutely adore it.
2. Rag & Bone Talia Sweater – I’ve always been fond of the v-neck sweater that I want to say Ralph Lauren or Tommy Hilfilger introduced me to? I just love how this one is preppy but not uptight at the same time and black and white – right?
3. New Balance Sneakers – I’ve been eye a good colourful sneaker for a while now and if this greeny guy were still in stock, I would be buying. Don’t fret though guys, I contacted J.Crew (actually) and they said they have will have some more in stock.

Steal or Splurge

In this steal or splurge series, I visit one of the trends I’m most excited about. We’ve seen them on the runways over the last couple of seasons and I for one am loving them, they are practical and oh-so cool and yay for us – now accessible. I spotted these leopard printed sneaks from Céline and fell for them, love the stark difference of the animal print and the white sole, the calf hair and how they were effortlessly paired with unexpected outfits. I’m unsure of the exact price of the Céline pair however, judging from their other items, I know they aren’t in my budget. The ones from Steve Madden however are within reach and already in my closet – just waiting to be worn.
