While looking for something to place in my hair at my friend’s wedding, I just wasn’t finding what I was looking for. I wanted something sparkly but not white rhinestone sparkly. I wanted something noticeable but not too big. We were getting down the wire and an idea had popped into my head – why not make something? I had remembered that I had my grandmother’s broach in my jewellery cabinet that was broken but would be perfect in this situation!  DSC_0004

Supplies ::

  1. Sewing needle and thread that closely resembles your hair or bobby pin
  2. Hot glue gun
  3. Old broach
  4. Thick or two-pronged bobby pin

Start by sewing the broach with a needle and thread to one end of the bobby pin. Ironically, this broach had a loop at he very end which was perfect to loop through. Initially I had thought that the glue gun would be enough but this was good reinforcement so it didn’t fall off throughout the day.

DSC_0011 You will also want to open up the bobby pin in some way- you can see that I used some paper towel – so that the glue didn’t stick the bottom end of the pin and you would be able to open the mouth.
