Happy first day of Summer! It feels really great being able to say that, it’s been a long time coming. Mother nature has been spoiling us lately with this amazing weather and I’m one happy clam. We had a weekend up north while our place was being shown for an open house and the weather couldn’t have been better. The past week was mayhem so it was great to really chill out and catch up on some reading.
I’m most thankful for the warmer weather to get rid of pants and the ability to wear dresses! With a growing belly it’s just easiest and I’ve been living in loose, flowy dresses. I found this dress that featured some frayed denim (Jen from The Effortless Chic does a great round of up frayed denim pants here, if interested) which is one of my fave summer trends right now. And this dress is from Old Navy folks! I don’t think I had stepped inside a store since high school and I was actually pleasantly surprised! I’ve seen a number of different variations of this oversized denim dress at much higher price points so I was pleased with this little find.

While touring the lovely city of Chicago last weekend I wore this outfit and even though I have already shared this pair of overalls on the blog before, I wanted to share it again because I’m that into them. I also may or may not have found a white pair on extreme sale while visiting their Madewell location. These overalls also make a little appearance over on Flare.com when I wore them to TURF. The cost per wear on these things are off the charts!
I’ll be sharing the places I visited in Chicago on the blog next week – stay tuned!
Enjoy your weekend!
A and I are headed up north (it’s going to be cold!) for a Fall cottage weekend. Can’t wait to get cozy.
Remember when snow days were a real thing? When you didn’t have to go to school and would meet your friends at the local ice rink or hill to go tobogganing? I miss those days and yesterday was the closest thing to it here in Toronto in a long while. I met my friend Spardha for lunch and although she was bundled head to toe, I thought she pulled off her cold winter look quite successfully. It’s no surprise really, she always looks stylish.
The all black look was perfectly styled with different textures (which really is the key to wearing all black anyway). I put together pieces of her look below so the next time you head out and are considering how to be warm but cute, you have guide to reference.
Layering Puffer// Peacoat// Black Jeans// Leather Gloves// Sorel Boots// Ray-Ban Wayfarers// Alexander Wang Bag
In keeping with today’s Toronto weather which is basically just snow everywhere – I figured I would round up some great white sneaks that are just perfect for your spring outfits. They are so perfect to pair with everything from floral skirts to torn up boyfriend jeans. Stay warm out there!
1. Michael Kors – Putting that sporty-chic in your step with these woven leather kicks.
2. ACNE – Known for their chic simplicity their white sneaker hits the mark.
3. Addidas Stan Smith – Classics! They remind me of my old school shell toes I had as a kid.
4. Vans – Another old school classic with an updated edge with the perforated leather.
5. Joe Fresh – How can you really beat this price?
6. Converse – An upgrade on your standard high-top converse, the leather brings them next level.
Enjoy the snow!
Lets kick this weekend of right, shall we? I’ve always been a fan of oxfords. I love the menswear inspiration, they are classic and can be worn so many ways. Throw a little metallic in the mix and I was sold yesterday. The vacation we just had has me dying for Spring more than ever. Bring back ankle baring season!

As you can see, silver oxfords have been quite popular and are worn by the fashion elite but once my eyes feasted on these rose gold ones (and after a quick debate with my friend), I realized that they are a little more unique and were the ones for me. Happy to share the J.Crew Factory has them right now for a really reasonable price and also in silver. Just think of all the Spring outfits!

One of the evenings on our trip to Maui was to celebrate the award winners, a.k.a my hubby and it was a gala evening. Initially I was at a loss as to what to wear to a gala in Hawaii in January?! Are dark colours appropriate in that climate or are dark colours mandatory since it was formal? I knew I wanted to wear something long versus a cocktail style dress however that style is a lot harder to shop for in Canada since not many of us are wearing maxi dresses at this time of year. After feeling defeated from a couple of different stores, I turned online and looked up my trusty old J.Crew website. I’ve purchased from their wedding and parties section before and really like the chiffon silk. Searching in their sale sections because as much as I love their dresses, they can also be heavily overpriced, I came across this style and loved it. I loved the neckline, the length and it was available in the flowy chiffon I was looking for. I was looking at some of the lighter colours, blush tones and a soft yellow however it was my fellow bookclubbies who suggested that this colour would be much more fitting on my skin tone. The decision was made and once it arrived, I was happy I listened!
It’s still strange to me that it’s 2015! I know I will be crossing out the 4 numerous times before I get it straight. In my previous post I shared how Andrew and I celebrated and we ended up a sweet house party that made me feel really alive! The next day, while we sat over brunch – Andrew and I chatted about our highlights from 2014 (the wedding, obvs!) but also what our plans and goals were for 2015. Things that we wanted to do, implement and things didn’t want to do (hello hellish hang overs?). Not necessarily resolutions but you catch my drift. Although I’m still working on what those things are – I’m excited to embark on a new year that will hopefully be as bright as the sweater I’m wearing.
I stopped into my local Joe Fresh and immediately when I saw this sweater, I quietly nodded my head to myself and was said, yep – I’m going to need it. I normally like to stick to neutrals with my knits. I like that I can easily pair them yet this one, saturated pink sweater, just spoke to me. I like it when life happens like that, you just know with zero thought or hesitation. Here’s hoping that 2015 will also speak to me just so.

Merry Christmas Eve! It’s time to put your party pants on! I seriously can’t believe how quickly this season has come but I’m excited none the less. I’m looking forward to spending time with family, relaxing, enjoying this mild weather (?) and overall reflecting on the past year – it’s been a good one. I recently wore this outfit to one of the last holiday parties and thought it was a nice mix of menswear, metallic and 90’s. Perhaps some metallic inspiration for New Years Eve?
Did you used to wear ear cuffs in the 90’s like me? Well good new – they are back! Bauble Bar has some great ones (like these!) that give you the cool cuff vibe without the heavy price tag.
Oh it’s winter – but it’s not yet white outside (thankfully!).
I do love a good winter white outfit for the Holidays though! There’s nothing more clean, minimal yet chic than a winter white outfit. Throw in a little menswear inspiration (sometimes those holiday dresses are just far too obvious) and you are set. Throwback to one of my white, menswear inspired holiday outfits last year. Once my eyes feasted on this little jacket of perfection I knew I no longer needed to search for the perfect white holiday attire. A white tuxedo jacket. One button, satin lapels and oversized enough to be your boyfriends, this jacket has me sold.
available at J.Crew.
I admire the Mise En Dior Pearl earrings like the next girl. I love the little peek-a-boo effect that they offer and the simplistic twist on the ultra classic stud. If you’re anything like me, you rotate your everyday wears and the pearl is always in the rotation.
It begs me to question, how had they not been done before? We always use a backing so why not make them make that much more flattering? While the Dior pair are a dream – luckily enough, they have been slightly adjusted and made available to the masses.
