I usually like to make weekly trips to my favourite flower store and challenge myself a bit by making an arrangement versus just placing my flowers into a vase. Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn’t. I attempted this particular arrangement with an attraction to the colour yellow and itch for something a little cray cray. Not your usual tight and perfect looking arrangement but a little more on the wild side. Below I share the steps I took:
Flowers from left to right ::Ranunculus, Bay Leaves, Craspedia, Variegated Pittosporum, Unidentified yellow guys, Dahlia and Queen Anne’s Lace::
Start with your base – I chose a pedestal vase and purchased an oasis (green foamy thing) and soaked in water for a good couple of hours. I wrapped the bay leave around the oasis so it appeared a little cleaner.
Add the flowers – You can really start in any which you like, whether with the smaller items or the large ones. I like to start with the big ones and fill in the space around them but, it’s up to you!
Continue to show the love – I then just start placing the rest of the flowers in at random. The cool thing about working with an oasis is that once you place you flower into it, it stays. This gives your arrangement some overall life since if you were to just place them in the vase, they would fall or flop to the side and not up straight.
Take it all in – this picture was actually taken the day after I made the arrangement since I thought it looked better with the ranunculus a little more open.
What about treating mumsie with a nice arrangement that you made versus the flowers you picked up at the store?
