I love reading. I always have, however when life gets busy it somehow falls by the wayside. I don’t really need another reason to love summer but it’s the time of year where I actually fit some quality reading in. Below I share four books that I recommend you pick up this summer.
1. Crazy Rich Asians – I just picked this book up and I love it! After reading rave reviews, and after judging it’s fun cover, I couldn’t resist. It’s the perfect summer read that adds humour, culture and fun to any day on the dock. My favourite part of the book is the extra step that author, Kevin Kwan, takes in explaining the family tree and cantonese words used through the story.
2. Let the Great World Spin – Those who know me, know that I struggled with this book. It seemed to take forever to get into yet when I reached the end and thought back, my thoughts were “damn, that was good”. It’s definitely one that you should carve some time out to read. The trouble I had with it was that I kept picking it up and putting it down and was missing the connections between the intertwining story plot.
3. The Rosie Project – So, to be completely transparent, I have not yet read this book. I like the cover and I read the back, does that count? In all honesty two of my dear friends have read it and said that they couldn’t put it down. The heartwarming love story of an awkward man won me over and lets just say I’ll take their word for it. It’s next on my list!
4. Water For Elephants – Notice how I didn’t chose the cover with Reese and Robert? The movie rendition was awful but the book is oh, so special. There’s not much more to say that it’s a wonderful story that leaves you with a warm feeling.
What books are you reading this summer? I’d love to know!
