‘Tis the season to gift! I love giving gifts to friends and family however there is nothing worse than defaulting to some basic level of gift giving that has little thought, meaning or character to it. I find when you head to the big box stores, you can find gifts sure, but there’s something to be said for giving a gift that seems a little more personal and unique. Well, if you live in Toronto (and if you don’t, you can still shop online!) than you’re in luck because I’ve rounded up some small stores that are perfect for finding that special gift. I’m lucky to call some of these shop owners friends but that doesn’t make me biased at all…

SmallandLocal

1 – Health Hut Boutique – You may recall Tara’s store from the launch party I helped her with and I’m still in love with her little hut! She has so many natural lifestyle products that are perfect for anyone on your list. My top three picks are: the Swell bottle (I love mine so much), an adorable gift set that she has created, and my favourite face wash.

2 – Keaton & Co. – What is more personal than a monogrammed gift? Jennifer has curated some of the best home gifts for that person on your list that has everything but some personalized napkins, right? My top three picks are: Monogrammed PJ’s for her, Rustic Linen Napkins and Emoji Napkins. Hurry – you will need to place your oder ASAP from her last minute shop here before Dec. 15 if you’re in Toronto.

3 – SOUVENIR – This little studio space/gallery/shop was started by two cool girls and is a home for emerging designers, artists and makers to display their work in a gallery-type setting – it’s just brilliant! Since their online store is still under construction you have to go into the studio however it’s well worth the trip to College St. My three picks are below: beautiful tiny bud vases (proud owner right here!), subtle earrings and speckles paint mugs. 2015-12-07_11-17-48 4.Tonic Blooms – I recently learned about their flower delivery service that delivers quality, styled arrangements to the downtown Toronto core in about 2 hours from placing your order. It’s the perfect last-minute gift for someone especially if you won’t be seeing them before Christmas.

5. BRIKA – I had the pleasure of checking out their new pop-up shop in Yorkdale and it was a gift giver’s dream. Perfectly curated gifts from local and non-local artisans that you can learn more about while shopping. It’s nice when you can me the connection between the product and it’s maker and BRIKA is all about celebrating that. My three picks include: dainty rings, the cutest little night light for a little one and these lovely candleholders BRIKA

6. Pepper B. Design – As I’ve mentioned already, it’s great to purchase from small businesses because it’s great to support local artisans however it’s always nice when the designer is as beautiful as her products! I’ve recently met Dani from Pepper B. and is just the cutest just like her pillows!!! My top three picks for gifts are: Didot Gray Medium Case, Didot Navy Pillow (clearly i’m into the Didot) and the Seventy Pillow in Taupe pillows

Happy Shopping!

xx
