While looking for something to place in my hair at my friend’s wedding, I just wasn’t finding what I was looking for. I wanted something sparkly but not white rhinestone sparkly. I wanted something noticeable but not too big. We were getting down the wire and an idea had popped into my head – why not make something? I had remembered that I had my grandmother’s broach in my jewellery cabinet that was broken but would be perfect in this situation!
- Sewing needle and thread that closely resembles your hair or bobby pin
- Hot glue gun
- Old broach
- Thick or two-pronged bobby pin
Start by sewing the broach with a needle and thread to one end of the bobby pin. Ironically, this broach had a loop at he very end which was perfect to loop through. Initially I had thought that the glue gun would be enough but this was good reinforcement so it didn’t fall off throughout the day.
Once you have sewn the two ends down use the hot glue gun to hold the threads and broach in place.
You will also want to open up the bobby pin in some way- you can see that I used some paper towel – so that the glue didn’t stick the bottom end of the pin and you would be able to open the mouth.
Ta-da! The final result – I was really happy with it and it stayed in place all day and night long (even on the dance floor).
